“NOC from Ministry of Defence has been received for construction of truce building of the height of 6.75 Meters at Nal Civil Airport at Bikaner” said R. S. Meena, Asstt. General Manager, AAI today while talking to TOI. Meena said that the revised NOC will help us in boosting up the construction work of civil terminal here and it is hoped that the work would be completed by the end of March, 2012. He said that pending NOC, we were working in the direction of constructing the places for parking and apparels. Since we were hopeful of getting the revised NOC, hence the process of dismantling of constructed part of truce building was not initiated, he added. AGM Meena said that AAI is making efforts for commencing domestic flights from Bikaner for the cities for which large number of passengers are available.
Speaking about the future plans of AAI, AGM Meena said that AAI is planning to construct a bigger airport to enable flying of big aircrafts like Boeing from Bikaner. He said a formal proposal has been submitted to district administration, in which our prime demand is to provide land around 50 Acres in the area adjoining to village Nal. Though he admitted that it is very early stage of the plan which will take final shape in coming five or more years, but said that AAI has started working on the project.
It may be mentioned here that there was a dispute between AAI and Ministry of Defence regarding height of truce building. AAI authorities constructed the building up to the height of 6.75 meters, whereas MoD gave NOC only for 5 meters. Later on the intervention and efforts of Bikaner MP Arjun Meghwal, who carried out several rounds of meetings with Union Minister of Defence A. K. Antony, Civil Aviation Minister Vyalar Ravi and AAI Chairman V. P. Aggrawal and succeeded in obtaining the revised NOC for the height of 6.75 meters clearing the way for completion of construction work of civil terminal at Nal (Bikaner).
